Our Commitment and Scope

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour in all forms. This statement applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers who provide goods or services to our business.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

Our zero-tolerance policy means we will not knowingly engage with or support any organisation or individual involved in modern slavery or human trafficking. Any suspected breach of this policy will be investigated and, where appropriate, may result in the termination of contracts or working relationships.

We are committed to ensuring that employment with Kennington Man and Van is freely chosen, that all workers are of legal working age, and that terms and conditions of employment are transparent, fair, and comply with applicable employment laws.

Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits

We recognise that the risk of modern slavery can exist at different levels of the supply chain, including in the provision of vehicles, fuel, equipment, uniforms, and subcontracted labour. To manage these risks, we are developing and maintaining a supplier framework that includes clear expectations on ethical conduct, labour standards, and human rights.

Suppliers are required to confirm that they operate in compliance with all relevant modern slavery and human trafficking legislation. We reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence to verify compliance. These supplier audits may include site visits, review of employment records, and discussions with management and workers to assess working conditions, recruitment practices, and grievance procedures.

Where issues are identified, we seek to work collaboratively with suppliers to improve standards. However, if a supplier is unable or unwilling to address concerns, we will consider ending the relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Kennington Man and Van encourages all employees, contractors, and suppliers to report concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices at the earliest opportunity. Concerns may relate to our own operations or to any part of our supply chain.

Reports can be made to line managers or senior management. We commit to treating all concerns seriously, investigating them promptly, and taking appropriate remedial action where necessary. We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith.

Where there is an immediate risk to the safety or welfare of an individual, we support contacting the relevant authorities without delay.

Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement

We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks within our workforce and among key suppliers. Where relevant, employees with responsibility for procurement, supplier management, or human resources will receive guidance on recognising indicators of exploitation and the appropriate steps to take if concerns arise.

We are committed to reviewing and improving our policies and procedures as our business and supply chains evolve, ensuring that our approach remains effective and proportionate to the risks we face.

Annual Review and Approval

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually to ensure it remains accurate, relevant, and reflective of our ongoing efforts to combat modern slavery and human trafficking. As part of the review, we assess the effectiveness of our actions, including supplier audits, reporting mechanisms, and training initiatives, and identify opportunities for further improvement.

The updated statement is approved by the leadership of Kennington Man and Van each year and made available to employees, suppliers, and stakeholders. By maintaining an active and transparent approach, we aim to play our part in eliminating modern slavery from our industry and wider society.
